We Bought a Tree

We didn’t buy a house,
we bought a tree.
She is our protector and host.
She is a mighty oak of a friend.
When I sit on the couch and drink my tea,
she peers through the window, satisfied with her rain.
When I zoom, she pops in and says hello.
Our friend is stylish, too,
and not just in the summer.
She looks as good in the winter moss as snow.
We didn’t buy a tree.
We were welcomed by a friend.
